Red, White, and Blue...Fun in the Sun!

We spent the 4th of July enjoying sun and sand with sweet friends.  Courtney and Darrell Hinnant and their sweet children Marycarson and Oliver invited us to come to the beach for the 4th.  We packed up and headed east for a quick 24 hour trip to the coast.

This was Jack's first "real" beach trip.  He had been on the beach before, but that was back in December and January so this time was definitely a different experience.  After the sunscreen was applied and the beach bags were packed, we headed to the ocean!  He seemed to love the wind in his hair, the water on his toes, and the sand he shoved in his mouth!  I think we are going to have a little fish on our hands (and I'm thrilled about that).

The 3 C's

Crawling, cruising, and climbing!  Jack is in to it all!  It seems to have happened in the blink of an eye.  One minute I was holding this helpless baby boy in my arms and the next I am watching him move all over the house independently.  Where did my baby go?

I am amazed at how quickly he can move (both physically and mentally, we have one short attention span here!).  He has definitely mastered the whole crawling thing and has begun cruising around the living room holding on to the sofa, his toys, our legs, you name it!  He wants to be on the go constantly.

Climbing recently started too.  I think he is abnormally strong for his age and size.  He can pull himself up on anything!  We have a side table in the living room that has a bottom shelf.  I have all of his books on the shelf so that they are at an easy level for him to grab and "read".  The other day, I watched as he pulled himself up on the shelf and proceeded to crawl from one end to the other!  He has also crawled under the bottom shelf and gotten stuck (spacial relations aren't his strong suit at this point)!

These days he goes full throttle from the time he wakes up until the time he goes back down (for naps or for bed at night).  Keeping up with him is most definitely a full time job.  He is in to absolutely everything, he loves to explore, and he is an expert taste tester of anything he can get his tiny little hands on.  The baby gates have come out, breakables have been put away, and furniture keeps disappearing (every time he bumps his head on something I take it away...Dave says that he's going to come home from work one day and all we will have in the living room will be pillows!). I am still finding things around the house to "baby proof"...he keeps me on my toes!

Vacation Bible School

"Everything is possible with God" -Mark 10:27

That was the theme of Vacation Bible School at Covenant this year.  My sweet friend, Courtney, and I served in the nursery so that all of the other moms serving could have a fun, safe place for their children to stay during the week.  Of course, Jack was with me all week and enjoyed playing with new friends each morning.  Courtney and I had other adult and youth helpers during the week which was a blessing since we had 9 wee ones each day.  Some of the highlights from our week include:

The train table

Celebrating Anna's first birthday with a blueberry muffin to share

Playtime with sweet friends
