This weekend we took a mini-vacation with our good friends, The Vergales'. We packed up our cars and headed north...to Snowshoe, West Virginia. On our way we passed Jack Mountain so of course we had to stop for pictures!! We rented a great slope side condo, packed lots of food and toys, and settled in for a fun but cold long weekend.
Dave and Jeff had a blast skiing while Brooke and I entertained the kiddos. Alexis is 15 months old and absolutely adorable. She is in to everything! She is teetering around on those wobbly little legs and loves to laugh and play. Jack had so much fun watching everything that Alexis was doing!

Saturday afternoon brought naps for everyone followed by dinner in the village (extra hands made this outing do-able). When we left dinner at 7:00 the temperature was already down to 12! Yes, TWELVE!! We quickly headed back to the condo and settled in for an evening of movies and hot chocolate.

The guys had fresh snow for their Saturday runs which made the conditions great but crowded. Brooke and I were going to take the kids to the village on Saturday morning but after standing outside for 30 seconds waiting for the shuttle, we decided that probably wasn't the smartest way to spend our time (someone was bound to have a breakdown and I'm not necessarily sure it would have been one of the babies!)...we quickly headed inside and parked ourselves by the big fireplaces in the great room to watch the snow fall.
Sunday morning was beautiful! The wind had stopped blowing, the sun was shining, and Caroline Blue skies were bright overhead. It was the perfect opportunity to get some precious pictures of the kiddos out in the snow. I don't think Jack was too thrilled with his photo shoot but we sure had fun experiencing his first snow with him. Jeff and Brooke had Alexis' sled with them so after a posed photo of both babies on the sled I took Jack for a quick spin! What fun!!

We hit the road soon after our snow expedition and headed back to Charlottesville, VA to spend the night with The Vergales'. When we got home it was such a pretty afternoon that Brook and I took the kids on a nice walk up (way up a mountain!) to Monticello. This Eastern NC girl isn't quite used to the mountains of Virginia but I made it, and it was beautiful from the top.
We had a relaxing night in Sunday night and returned to Greenville Monday afternoon. We had a great time with great friends and have decided that this will be an annual trip that we can take together!
Love the post and totally agree it was a wonderful trip and needs to be an annual adventure.
