Happy Hunting

We have jumped (or should I say hopped) right in to all that this Easter season has to offer.  Sweet Jack has been a busy little guy this past week with his first two Easter Egg hunts!  I know he is a little young to get anything out of these spring events but I have sure had fun with this sweet tradition.

Last Saturday, March 31, we were invited to Jack's first Easter Egg hunt.  John and Lucy Marston, grandparents to Jack's friends James (4 months) and Grace (19 months) (and my sweet friend Kate's parents) hosted a very memorable egg hunt at their farm in Jones County.  We were lucky enough to have Grandma and Grandpa Ryan visiting for the weekend so they were able to enjoy the festivities with us!  The day started off rainy and cool so the eggs were gathered up and moved inside for the precious kiddos to hunt.  Jack did great collecting eggs that I helped him find.  Since he is sitting up on his own, he was able to play with the eggs that were at his feet.  He even reached for and picked up some of the eggs with his chubby little hands...adorable!  He is using the Easter basket that I used as a little girl (thanks Mom!)...it is perfect with my pink ribbon changed to blue.

While the kiddos were searching high and low for Easter eggs, the skies were clearing and the sun started to shine allowing for some time outside.  Lucy had a table set for the older munchkins with the sweetest Easter treats.  Grace and her friends enjoyed peeps, egg shaped cookies, bunny lollipops, and colored goldfish.  They washed their food down with juice served in bunny cups!
After everyone finished their afternoon snacks, the wee ones received a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny!  The bunny brought each child a painted Easter egg with his/her name on it.  I mean, they really thought of everything!!  We all got pictures with the Easter Bunny before it was time to say goodbye!  This egg hunt was so special and such a fun memory of Jack's first Easter.

Then, this past Tuesday, April 3, we had our good friends the Torrents and the Zeithamls over
for an egg hunt and cookout.  I filled eggs and scattered them in the front yard for the sweet boys to find.  Jaiman (18 months), Evan (12 months), and Jack (6 months) were not too into the hunting but it sure made for cute pictures!  Of course we made them wear bunny ears!  Dave fired up the grill and worked his magic with the burgers.  Who doesn't love spring evenings spent outdoors with friends?

To commemorate Easter 2012, we did a craft with the boys.  G brought over finger paint and paper so we painted each of their sweet feet and stamped them beside one another...so fun to see the different sizes.  Hopefully this year has kicked off Easter traditions that we will continue for years to come!

Spring has Sprung

The past few weeks have been filled with the first tastes of Spring!  What a wonderful time of year, especially in the South.  Greenville is overflowing with the colors of the season as all the beautiful flowers are in bloom...the azaleas and dogwoods are stunning!  Jack has seen his first bunnies hopping in the backyard and has watched our feathered friends splashing in the birdbath.  How thankful we are for the new life and growth that comes each Spring.

We have certainly had spring fever and have been outside taking advantage of the amazing weather as much as possible.  The grill has been fired up, Jack's pool has been inflated and filled, and we have been swinging at the park.  If only the weather would stay just like this!!  Unfortunately, the heat of the North Carolina summer is right around the corner.  Until it grabs hold of us and we are forced inside to the air conditioning, we will continue to take advantage of all the season has to offer.

Our most favorite time of these Spring days comes when Daddy gets home from work and we are able to take a walk around the neighborhood together.  Jack so enjoys this time outside at the end of the day and I so enjoy these special moments with our family.  It certainly is the little things in life that mean the most.

Happy Spring!
