Watermelon

For the second year in a row, we enjoyed a hot August night eating cold watermelon at the Watermelon Festival in Winterville.  Again this year, we went with our sweet friends, The Hinnants.  The difference  this year was that our two little boys were enjoying the fun with us rather than in us!  Both Courtney and I were pregnant at last year's festival...I can assure you that we both enjoyed walking around in the heat much more this year!  

The Watermelon Festival is a mini fair...games, rides, fried food, and music.  It is the only "fair-like" event that I will ever be able to get Dave Ryan to go to.  He absolutely hates the fair but actually enjoys this family friendly night out in Eastern NC!  First of all, its completely free to attend and secondly, there is hardly a crowd at all.  Combine that with fried Oreos and he's hooked! 

Marycarson loved the rides and with Jack's newfound ability to walk, he loved exploring.  Oliver was content to people watch from the stroller for the night.  What a sweet, sweet end of summer tradition and special memories for years to come!
